Adjunct Staff

Adjunct Staff are volunteers that are formally on the Southern Gables staff but serve without pay. Typically they work 20 to 24 hours per week in their areas of responsibility. Contact Pastor Rich Peterson for more information on these volunteer staff positions.

Johnny Hein, Congregational Care Director Johnny is the Director of Congregational Care. He and his wife, Ricki, have been happily married for 35 years. They have been SGC Partner members since 1996. He is a Colorado native and has a B.S. degree in Business Management. After 33 years in marketing and sales in the railroad industry, followed by 7 more years in transportation with a major forest products company, he took an early retirement in 2003. In addition to his recent appointment to the church adjunct staff, he enjoys volunteering at a nonprofit organization handling their transportation issues, and mentoring an inner city youth. Johnny and Ricki are trained Stephen ministers. They are involved in a Bible study as discussion group leaders, and a prison ministry Bible study program. They host and develop relationships with foreign college students in the International program at Denver University. They also enjoy praying together, plus travel, camping, fishing and golf.
BiJi Kiker, Connecting - Spiritual Mentoring BiJi is part of adjunct staff for Ministry to Women in the areas of Spiritual Mentoring and Connection. BiJi and her husband, Chuck, have attended SGC over 30 years. They have two sons and daughters-in-law, and six grandchildren. BiJi enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, bike riding, walking and hiking.
Gerry Neel, Administration Gerry has worked in the Administration area since October, 2001. He is a retired public school administrator. Gerry and his wife, LaWanda, are originally from Texas and have been married for 42 years. They have 2 grown children and 4 grandchildren. Reading, traveling, sports, and gardening are his hobbies.
Jim Vincent, Information Services Jim coordinates computer and information systems services and is the Southern Gables webmaster. He retired in 2001 after 43 years of service as an environmental engineer with the federal government and joined the Adjunct Staff in February 2002. He was born and raised a Nebraska Cornhusker. He met his wife Delores while living in her home state of Virginia. They married in 1966 and have four adult sons: Mark, Craig (Margaret), Jon and Tim (Kasia) and grandchildren Abigail and Tristan. Jim and Delores have lived in Colorado since 1969 and became partners of Southern Gables in 1979. Jim enjoys time with his family, being a grandfather, watching sports and family history research.
Doyle Weathers, Congregational Care Doyle grew up on a farm in Missouri, as did his wife, Peggy. In his senior year in high school, he came to a personal faith in Jesus Christ. He received an undergraduate degree and a law degree from the University of Missouri, served in the Judge Advocate Generals Corp of the U.S. Army and after being released from the army, he began a 39 year career in banking in the area of personal trusts and fiduciary services. The trust career provided many opportunities for Doyle to minister to individuals. Following retirement from banking in 1996, Doyle began serving on the staff of his northern Illinois church in a voluntary capacity in the area of pastoral care. Doyle and Peggy celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in February 2002. They moved to Colorado in December 2000 to be near their son, daughter-in-law and 2 young grandchildren who live in Lakewood. They have a daughter and son-in-law in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Doyle's hobby (at the present) is spending time with his two grandchildren.
