Pastoral Staff

Dr. Jerry Nelson, Senior Pastor Jerry is our senior pastor. He grew up on a dairy farm in northern Wisconsin and was a childhood, family friend of his wife Barbara, who grew up in suburban Minneapolis. Jerry and Barbara served churches in Minneapolis, Minnesota and Rockford, Illinois before coming to Southern Gables in 1978. Jerry's formal education includes undergraduate degrees from Moody Bible Institute and the University of Minnesota and masters' programs at Northern Illinois University and Denver Seminary and a doctorate from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Barbara and Jerry have a young son (born in 1998), three adult daughters, two sons-in-law, and three grandchildren. Reading and motorcycling (not at the same time) are Jerry's two favorite hobbies.
Mr. Than Baylor, Children's Ministries Pastor Than Baylor and his wife, Michelle, are Colorado natives, although they spent most of their childhood in Southeastern Idaho before returning 'home'. Than received a BS in Elementary Education before marrying Michelle in 2001. Their journey continued as Than pursued masters' level education from Denver Seminary in the areas of youth and family. SGC has been home since returning to Colorado and they are excitedly looking toward many years ahead instilling passion for Jesus Christ in the lives of children. Than enjoys digital photography of all sorts and can be found throughout the Rocky Mountains with his camera in tow. In addition he enjoys cycling, racquetball with his wife, time with his grandparents and a great game of ultimate Frisbee anytime he gets the chance.
Mr. Dan Luebcke, Student Ministries Pastor Dan Luebcke is the pastor for Student Ministries. Dan has been working at SGC since 1996. He grew up in Colorado and has been married to Julie since 1996. They are the proud parents of three children, Noah (2001) Josiah (2003) and Adah (2006). Dan received his formal education from Colorado Christian University and Denver Seminary. He loves teeing up the white ball, reading, eating pizza, watching Broncos and Avalanche games with Julie and wrestling with the boys!
