Ministry Opportunities within the Elementary Department

Here are teams where your involvement is welcome and needed:

Teaching Teams: Participate with a team of ministry partners, teaching elementary children.

Large group teachers provide creative and energetic Bible lessons from the provided curriculum. Plan and present a lesson for 20-25 minutes of the Sunday School time using skits, discussions, games, etc.

Small group leaders (shepherds) take responsibility for 8-10 children of like gender within a Sunday School class. Get to know children in the group personally, pray for them regularly, and reach out to them on a personal level by sending cards and making phone calls. Emphasis is on personal application of the Bible lesson that is presented by the large group teacher each week.

Greeters will greet children as they arrive in the classroom. Keep attendance records and register visitors. Requires 15-20 minutes at beginning of class each week.

Worship Leaders: Work with a team who desires to teach children to participate in worship. Plan and provide creative and energetic worship opportunities for our children. Offer input in planning periodic Family Worship Services throughout the year.

Music/Drama Team: Coordinate and instruct children in various music or drama presentations throughout the year. Assist with special appearances by our children in the worship services.

Missions Team Mentors: Help children grow in their understanding of people around the world and God's love for them. Periodically visit classes encouraging participation in projects for missionary families or community organizations.

Craft Team: Plan and prepare craft projects for special children's events such as Vacation Bible School, Easter, Family Christmas Party, etc. Work with children in craft assembly.

Supply Organization: Periodically visit and organize teacher supply closet. Organize teacher cabinets in rooms and replenish supplies.

Food Preparation Team: Plan and prepare food or snack items for special children's events, such as Vacation Bible School, Family Christmas Party, Family Fun Night etc.

Teacher Appreciation Team: Assist us in showing appreciation to those who consistently work with our children. Plan special treats for teachers, write cards of encouragement and thanks, organize a teacher appreciation Sunday for parents to thank their child's teacher, etc.

Decorating Team: Decorate hallways and classrooms on the children's wing. Assist with decorations for Vacation Bible School, Summer Sunday School, Family Fun Night, Easter or Christmas celebrations, etc.
