As those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion… Colossians 3:12
Because God has chosen us for Himself, set us apart for His use, and deeply loved us as His children, He has told us as followers of Jesus Christ, to put certain qualities on ourselves, as if we were putting on a shirt or coat, qualities that reflect our true self in Christ Jesus, and that also reflect the character of God. For example:
- "The Lord is compassionate and gracious…" Psalm 103:8
- "As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him." Psalm 103:13
- "And seeing the crowds, Jesus was moved with compassion for them." Matthew 9:36
- "The Samartian felt compassion…and showed mercy." Luke 10:33
Compassion Ministries is an avenue of service for the people of Southern Gables, providing opportunities to express God’s love and compassion in this body and in the community.
You are encouraged to get to know these ministries, their leadership and their volunteers. We have provided summaries of ministries below with links to additional information and leader contacts. You may contact the leaders directly or look for the Compassion Ministry Kiosk in the Welcome Center on Sunday mornings, and engage with their ministry,
their mission, their challenges and their joys, asking God where He wants you to serve Him in this body.
For more information on Compassion MInistry or to volunteer, please contact Al Hodges at 720-732-0550 or ahodges@sgc.org. You may also download a Ministry Brochure PDF.
