Father I confess that I have not taken the time to be silent and spend time with You and your word, the Bible. Help me to be more consistent and take time to read your word and meditate, think about, ponder what you are saying to me this day, this moment. Father, I do desire to know you better, to seek your counsel and listen to your teachings. Send your Holy Spirit to not only prompt me to seek and desire time with you, but to interpret your words into my heart that I would not just read them but understand.

FOCUS: Meditation & Silence

• Pray that the Holy Spirit would prompt you and put a desire in you heart to spend time reading and studying God's word.
• Pray that you would seek consistent time with God each day and listen in silence as the Holy Spirit helps you hear what God is saying to you.
• Pray that the Holy Spirit would prompt you to pray for other people throughout the day as He brings them to your mind. Pray for the people on your "Most Wanted" list.
• Pray that God would prompt you to take time each day to study His word. Consistently write down what a scripture says to you, it may say something totally different the next time you read it.
• Pray before you begin reading and studying God's word. Pray that the Holy Spirit will be with you helping you to understand not only what the Bible is saying but what God is saying to you through it.

The lost art of the twentieth century is meditation. Meditation is disciplined thought, focused on a single object or Scripture for a period of time.
