Baptism at Southern Gables

Baptism is a sacrament of the New Testament, instituted by Jesus Christ, to be unto the person baptized a sign of his identification with Jesus in his death, burial and resurrection, of the forgiveness of sins, of receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit, of being brought into Christ's body which is the church, and of committing allegiance to Jesus.

We encourage all who are 12 years of age or older, who are trusting in Jesus Christ as saving-Lord to be baptized. For those under 12 years of age, please see the letter to child and letter to parents.

We practice believer's baptism by immersion (though sprinkling can be done for those believers with special needs).

We conduct baptisms several times a year in our Sunday morning worship services. These are proceeded by an orientation for each person being baptized. The dates of baptism services are announced in the Weekly Bulletin given to worship service attenders and also on this web site. It is helpful if you contact the church office to indicate your interest in baptism.
