Sunday Mornings
For most of us, the first place we get acquainted is in the Worship Service. We ask everyone, visitors and regular attenders alike, to sign in when the attendance registration folders are passed during the service. While we honor your need for privacy, we also recognize that it is difficult to get acquainted without contact information. This information is for church ministry use only and is never sold or used for commercial purposes. As we receive this information, it allows us to contact you personally, gives us opportunity to invite you to special events, and allows us the privilege to pray for your family personally. You will also feel much greater sense of belonging when you receive a name tag (automatically generated after the sixth time you sign in) and begin to receive information on church life. For us, recognizing you as part of our church family also equips us to respond to you and your family in times of difficulty or crisis.
Discovery Seminars
This fun and rapid-paced event is designed to give you a sense of the breadth of the ministries available to you and your family. You will hear the heart, mission, ministry responsibilities of each staff member, and discover where you might begin to make connections and get involved apart from attending our regular Sunday morning Worship Services. Discovery is scheduled once per quarter and is held at both 9:00 and 10:30 am on Sunday. We meet in the Welcome Center. Watch the Weekly Bulletin for upcoming dates.
Connecting with the Southern Gables Community
As a church, we have both a passion and a mission for spiritual community. Spiritual formation--growing in Christ--has optimal impact in the context of relationships. We need one another! It is our desire that each person become connected with other believers at Southern Gables so that we may walk together, encouraging one another, praying with and for one another, and helping each other become faithful followers of Jesus Christ.
If you are new there are several steps that you can take to introduce yourself to us and to learn about our people and ministries. One of the first and easiest steps is to become part of an Adult Community. Adult Sunday School classes at Southern Gables are called adult communities because they are much more than classes. They are small communities within our church that provide "family" for our people. They provide a place for each adult to belong, to connect, and to grow in his or her journey with Jesus Christ. We encourage you to join one of our Adult Community families. More information on our current ACs, their focus and schedule is available on the Adult Communities ministry page.
Ministry Opportunities
The body of Christ needs all of its people, working in harmony with one another, within the skills and gifting God has given to each of them. We encourage you to use your gifting in some area of service. Specific opportunities are listed frequently in the Weekly Bulletin, and ongoing needs are outlined on the various ministry pages of this web site. If you don't see an area of service that fits your particular gifts and experience, contact one of the staff or a specific ministry leader. God may have provided you to meet a specific need that hasn't been publicized yet!
