Worship Services

Worship at Southern Gables Church is designed to reflect the scriptural teachings of creativity and diversity. Our goal is to develop mature worshippers who will seek after God's heart and mind, surrender their lives, and focus on glorifying the Triune, living God. The Bible is our foundation and blueprint for worship. God’s variety and creativity frees us to worship Him in the same manner (Ephesians 5:19). We sing hymns from Classic Western Hymnody (Martin Luther-Isaac Watts) to current-contemporary songs (Chris Tomlin-David Crowder). We blend the best of contemporary and historical music (based on our objective musical criteria) and regularly use creeds, scripture readings, and prayers in producing authentic, passionate services that exemplify the creativity and glory of our great God. We select music and readings around a theme, but don't try to force every worship component to perfectly fit the theme.
We believe our voices are the primary “instruments” in worship, so we are careful that our accompaniment (organ, piano, keyboards, strings, woodwinds, brass, guitars, percussion, and drums) does not overwhelm the congregational singing.
Our diverse congregation worships in two identical services at 9:00 and 10:30 a.m. We remind ourselves often that the congregation is the actor, God is the audience, and the worship leaders are the directors in true and authentic worship.
